yay, a song that doesn't destroy what's left of my hearing! for most of the songs on here i have to turn my volume to 10. Pretty great, but mixing is meh

Evilgrapez responds:

Thanks! Yeah the mixing needs work lol. I'll work on that later...if I end up finishing this.

drums are way too quiet and the clips are everywhere. basically just randomness...

rakeeb100 responds:

This was actually a test upload. I'll delete this later.

i'll split this into 3 parts, one for each 'segment', each with its own rating.
Segment One:
Cons: The echo-y FXs are a bit badly mixed, especially at :10 and mostly :19, where they overpower a lot of the rest of the song. Also, the arps in the background (from :20 to :31) need some delay/reverb, as they sound too dry.
Pros:
Pretty much everything else is perfect, the melody is really nice and calming, and the sounds are just right.
Score: 4.5/5
Segment Two:
Cons:
At about :53-:54 the chord sound gets kind of loud (i think that's what happened?) and overpowers the rest of the instruments just a bit. Also, the drums (starting at :56) are way too quiet (specifically the hats and snare). The arps that begin at 1:03 are a bit loud as well, and the wet level on the reverb is a bit too high, plus the mixing kind of falls apart around that point.
Pros:
I love the atmosphere you created with this one. The sounds are perfect for the melody, and vice versa. It progresses nicely as well.
Score: 3.5/5
Segment Three:
Cons:
There are some overall mixing problems at ~1:37, but they're pretty minor.
Right at 1:51, the echo from the FX kind of cuts out some of the other sound, and the snare in that part is way too quiet.
Pros:
Can't get enough of dem FX in the first bit, nice and atmospheric. The ticking sound builds up tension perfectly for the drop thingy, which transitions perfectly. The instrumentation is also really great,
Score: 4/5
Total: 4/5, really great song!

Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Onefin responds:

Wow! Thanks for writing such an in-depth review!

First off... why did you start with cons? :/

Segment One - Eccentric:
So I'm bad at mixing XD I must have made those too loud, I understand
Now that I'm listening back, those arps do sound really dry :/ crap
The melody is inspired off of my beautiful percussion teacher lol

Segment Two - Ether:
Well, I mean, the chords are the melody, but I can understand. Also the chords are not getting any louder, I'm simply taking a high pass off of them. Perhaps I could have lessened the EQ on the low end?
Well, once again, when the arps come in, they're the melody, and so I had to make them sit on top of the whole thing. And the muddiness is probably due to the drums.

Segment Three - Envo:
...But 1:37 is pretty much the exact same as everything before it
Wow, you're right about that snare. Gosh dang it.
The ticking is custom made! Stock samples woo

Overall:
All my cons are mixing! :D WOO

this is perfect. everything. all of it. perfect. the FX fits right in with the rest of the sounds. the drums are mastered perfectly. the chords are just right. the piano-y sound is very relaxing, and the drum samples are nice. it progresses perfectly. thank you for this beauty.

the intro sounds like some of the chords from one of Undertale's battle themes...
this is great! I love the sounds you used for the background FX. also, the stereo is nice! And the sounds are really smooth. Good work.

dEM DRUM SAMPLES ARE PERFECT. WHERE CAN I GET THEM???

also, this is great! i honestly expected it to sound empty without the vocals but no

i'm guessing everything was an FL preset? it kinda sounds like it. needs less repetition. but it's good enough that i'll scout you.

AngelRosales responds:

hahaha yes FL but not is all preset xD just half ;) thank you

the intro is a bit weird, but i like it.

Lockyn responds:

Glad you like!

amazing. i love the harmony in the intro, and the screechy synth, too! good job with this one.

PxTone Collage exports to .mp3??? i probably should switch from organya maker if so...
this is really a good song. nice use of the cs sounds, as well!

Jusu-Tengu responds:

No, PxTone only exports to wav so you can then convert it to any audio file type you like.

Newgrounds only accepts mp3 files anyway so I don't really have any other options (which I personally think is a f**king stupid choice for when it comes to providing video game loops because in that category Ogg Vorbis is clearly more superior because it doesn't add a fraction of a second of silence at the beginning therefore ruining the general purpose of a proper loop). :/
